GCSE
2007 was another good year for pupils and students at the British International School. While the percentage of students attaining the highest marks at GCSE (A, A*) was down, the number of students who passed five subjects at A*-C was dramatically up from 92% to 100%. This is better than the results of all comprehensive schools in the United Kingdom and better than over half the results of selective grammar schools. The overall figure in the UK is 63.6%. Also there was a significant rise in the students with five passes – A*-C which included English and maths from 81% to 86.9%.
This set of results provides a sound base for further success in 2008. Our aim is to ensure that we do at least as well in the 5 passes at A*-C category, while at the same time look to ways to help the more able pupils achieve more A or A* passes.
SATs
Our SAT results were again much higher than the UK benchmark. At the end of Key Stage 2, the results in English maths and science all showed close to 100% achieving level 4 or above. Key Stage 3 students did even better with 100% achieving level 5 or better in science, closely followed by English (99%) and maths (97%). As in previous years, a high number of our Key Stage 3 pupils excelled at the higher levels in mathematics with 25% working at level 8 (the highest level).
The results for Key Stage 1 are no longer made public.
