BISR is still in its infancy as a school which offers GCSE examinations. Its first A level results are awaited in 2010.
The numbers taking GCSE examinations have been relatively small, about 45 a year. In that time, as can be seen from the table below, results have been relatively constant. With small groups of candidates, fluctuations from year to year can be more marked than with larger cohorts.
Since 2004, the first year that GCSE examinations were taken by students at BISR, the A*/A rate has averaged out at 48.5%. The A*-B mean rate has been 74% and the pass rate (A*-C) has averaged just under 92%.
This represents a very creditable level of achievement and, as the secondary section matures and develops, results will improve significantly. This is a common pattern in international schools.
