SIXTH FORM DRESS CODE

The sixth form dress code can broadly be described as ‘business-like’. With that in mind, the following requirements are in place:

GIRLS

  • Tailored trousers or skirt
  • Tailored blouse or shirt: short or long sleeve
  • Black or navy or brown/tan leather shoes
  • Girls must also own a jacket or suit for more formal/public occasions, e.g. helping with parents’ evenings, touring prospective students etc.
  • In the winter a plain sweater or jacket may also be worn
  • Jewellery and make up may be used with discretion, though such items of jewellery that constitute a danger (in games or science etc) must be removed. Hair must be tied back in similar circumstances. Unnatural colours of hair are not acceptable and the style and colour of hair should, like clothing, be uncontroversial.

BOYS

  • Tailored trousers
  • Tailored shirt: short or long sleeve. If long, cuffs should be worn down or folded above the elbow. Shirt to be tucked into trousers at all times. Top button only undone. There is no requirement to wear a tie during the school day
  • Black or brown/tan leather shoes
  • Boys must also own a jacket and tie, or suit, for more formal/public school occasions, e.g. helping with parent’s evenings, touring prospective students etc.
  • In the winter a plain sweater or jacket may also be worn
  • Boys should be clean shaven and have hair no longer than collar length

The following garments are not permitted during the working school day:

  • Jeans
  • Garments with holes in
  • Shorts
  • Low cut or hooded tops
  • Cut off tops which reveal the midriff
  • Flip flops or trainers
  • Tracksuit bottoms in class or on formal occasions
