Throughout the GCSE course Lucy Cox has continued to develop as an artist with strong and well researched projects. In Lucy’s second Coursework project, she conducted a visual investigation in to the work of Eadweard Muybridge. She was particularly interested in “freezing” frames that when viewed together convey a sequential story. Lucy began by arranging these images in composition which told the story of the various places that make her home. Each line of images in the sequence convey a different story, including: “Place with Family”, “Place to learn”, “Place around me” and “Place with people”. Her work is a confident final photography composition.
Cathy Hadadin began her coursework project by conducting a visual investigation into women in Middle East. She was particularly interested in the use of henna tattoo’s as a body ornament, and how these designs are used by generations of women. This led Cathy to explore portraiture and the role women play in society. Her final piece is a powerful painting of a women wearing traditional Islamic dress, painted on a surface of collaged Arabic newspaper.
