The school has invested substantially in the last two years to extend its computing facility to have a significant impact on teaching and learning and to enable the use of Management Information Software.
The school has an extensive computer network which consists of an ICT suite with 4 fully equipped rooms with over 20 computers and a teacher work room. There are further full suites in the Key Stage 1 area and in the music suite. Each room has either a mono or colour laser printer.
There are smaller groups of networked computers in maths, DT, the library and science. Every classroom has a networked computer and projector for teaching purposes. Many rooms, particularly in key stages 1 and 2 have Smartboards for teacher use. This facility is growing all the time.
Years 5 and 6 share a bank of laptops which are wheeled in a trolley. These make use of the growing wireless network which is spreading throughout the school. There is also a networked open area for individual and small group work in the Year 5 and 6 area.
Recently, the English, Languages, Maths & Science departments all benefited from the new laptops stored on a wheeled trolley, allowing access to the wireless network for easier teaching in classrooms.
Other resources available to pupils and staff include scanners and digital cameras.
Internet access and e-mail facilities are available on the network and the school is constantly developing an intranet
which is available to all pupils and staff.
There is a link to the Salwa section of the school so that all pupils at that site receive the same software and internet provision. The section makes use of banks of laptop computers used within the classroom and has a fully equipped computer room. All classrooms have projectors and Smartboards.
