International Award

The International Award is an exciting self-development programme available to all 14 to 25 year olds. Over 6 million young people worldwide have taken up the Award challenge.

The Award is tough, but it is about individual challenge, not about reaching specific standards set by some-one else. Young people design their own Award Programme, set their own goals and record their own progress. The only person they compete against is themselves, by callenging their own beliefs about what they can achieve.

At BISR, our award candidates meet each week to discuss and learn more about the award and their role within it. We have skill sessions covering aspects of first aid, camp craft, navigation and team work, to name a few.

The adult group leaders monitor the candidates throughout their participation and advise them accordingly on their progress.

We have preparatory camps in the desert, where the students learn to travel on foot, through a wild environment and take responsibility for their own cooking and general needs while away from home.

Our Gold award participants went to Nepal in November 2010 to complete their adventurous journey section. To read their story, click here
