MUSIC FACILITIES

The Music Department provide class music lessons to all pupils, in a suite of well-equipped and well-appointed rooms. In the department there is a computer lab in which the children learn to write music, create dance tracks and reinforce other areas of the curriculum. There is also a dedicated keyboard room and a set off Spanish guitars for the children to play a wide variety of instruments.

In Year 2 Term 1 children learn to play the recorder which helps with their general reading of music.

Three main areas of study are required in the modern and up-to date curriculum. These are Performing, Composition and Listening, which are presented in an interesting and exciting format, enabling pupils to experience many styles of music in many different guises.

A peripatetic instrumental service is provided giving pupils the opportunity to learn from specialist teachers, and the pupils may take the Associated Board Examinations which take place annually.

The ultimate aim of the Music Department is to give the pupils a memorable and enjoyable experience of the subject.
