The pastoral care of students is founded on the establishment of good, positive relationships between teachers and taught, between teachers and teachers, and amongst students themselves. At every stage of the School, students have a Tutor who is a point of contact if a student has a problem. The tutor will take a particular interest in each of his or her students, monitor their progress and will know him or her better than any other member of staff.
Each year group of Tutuors reports to a Year Head who exercises a general supervision and they, in turn, report to members of the Senior Leadership Group.
We have high expectations that our students in work habits, attitudes, appearance and behaviour. In this respect, we follow a zero tolerance policy with regard to drugs, alcohol and other illegal substances and we aim to include smoking as part of this.
We encourage students to make a positive contribution to their community through student councils and other bodies. Sixth Formers take on responsibilities to help the smooth day-to-day running of the School. This helps them to develop the qualities they will need in adult life.
Our aim is to encourage our students to become self-disciplined, responsible adults which, we feel, will help them lead a happy and fulfulled life.
