The Physical Education Department aims to provide all pupils with the opportunity to develop physical skills and interests through an extensive range of activities.
We also aim to give all students the confidence and understanding to exercise effectively and safely within a healthy and active lifestyle.
The school's impressive sports facilities are used throughout the year to host tournaments as part of the ISSL-R, of which BISR is a member.
The league enables pupils from International schools in Riyadh to compete in a wide range of sporting activities. These include football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, cricket, swimming, table tennis and badminton.
At various times throughout the season, the British International School hosts tournaments in the following sports:
Pupils from Years 5 & 6 have the opportunity to represent the school at the BSME Junior (Under 11) Games. The event is designed to bring member schools together to compete in a number of sports, and for children in the schools to meet and make friends with other children in British Schools around the Middle East.
Sports in the BSME games include swimming, athletics, netball, soccer and basketball. The BSME Junior games help our pupils to understand the value of healthy competition as well as providing a learning experience in sportsmanship.
The BSME games programme is expanding with the introduction of the Under 15 event to be held in Bahrain in 2010.
The pupils are offered an extensive range of extra-curricular sports clubs utilising the facilities within the school. Presently, the school offers extra-curricular sport in football, gymnastics, basketball, table-tennis, badminton, volleyball, cricket, rounders and swimming. The school has its own successful "Tiger Sharks' swim team who train every evening and compete in both regional and national competitions.
